KEEP THE DETAILS WORKING TOGETHER.

A website can be online and still send customers to the wrong place. Here is a practical monthly routine.

The route a customer takes, checked at six points, with a short record kept underneath.
The short answer

A small routine. A useful record.

Website maintenance means checking that customers can still find accurate information and use the intended contact route, then fixing agreed issues and keeping recoverable site files. A page loading successfully is only the first check.

Use the same short checklist each month. Record the date, page, issue and next action so that a quick look becomes a useful history.

A repeatable monthly check

Walk the path your customer takes.

  1. 1

    Start on a phone.

Open the homepage and a key service page. Read the headline, service area and main action. Check for cut-off text, overlapping controls and a menu that blocks content.

  2. 2

    Check contact destinations.

Inspect whether call links use the intended number and email links use the intended mailbox. Opening a compose window or dialer is not proof that a message or call arrives.

  3. 3

    Check the inquiry route.

If you own the site and its receiving inbox, arrange a clearly labeled test submission with the responsible person. Confirm receipt and any reply route; remove test records when no longer needed. Do not send real customer information as test content.

  4. 4

    Read the facts.

Confirm hours, service descriptions, actual service area, prices where published and any seasonal offers. Remove an expired promotion rather than leaving a misleading date.

  5. 5

    Follow important links.

Check navigation, downloads and outside booking/shop links. A working destination should also be the intended destination.

  6. 6

    Check recoverable copies.

Know which site files you have, where the copy is held and what it would take to restore them. A file copy does not automatically include inboxes, databases or third-party accounts.

What a check can catch

One change can show up twice.

Hypothetical example

A service business changes its email address. The contact page text is updated, but its email button still opens the old address. A visual read catches the text; checking the destination catches the mismatch.

Record both the visible correction and the link correction, then confirm receipt through the intended route. Do not describe a link click as a received inquiry.

A useful handoff

Keep the summary short.

A maintenance note can be four lines: checked date and pages; issue found; change approved and made; next action. If nothing changed, record what was checked. Do not place customer messages, passwords or full form contents in the maintenance log.

A new booking tool, a large repair or a redesign is a separate project decision. Ask for a scope and quote before treating it as a routine edit.

Choose the support you need

Do it yourself or arrange care.

You can keep a checklist yourself or agree help with it. See the website maintenance service for plan fit, examples and boundaries.

Website Care · $150/month

Quattro’s optional Website Care is $150/month for monthly page, link, contact and mobile checks, recoverable site-file copies, up to 30 minutes of edits/small fixes and a short summary.

Care and Content · $300/month

Care and Content is $300/month: base services plus one short project story OR a substantial existing-page update, and four captions. Two shared hours total cover edits, fixes, content and one content revision round, including the base allowance.

Checks are monthly, with no continuous monitoring or emergency response. Unused time does not roll over. Read the full care boundaries. If repeated issues need structural changes, use the repair-or-redesign checklist.
